The S&S Cycle 496 Cam Chest Kit is meticulously engineered to elevate your engine's performance and longevity. At its core, the oil pump and cam plate are precision machined from robust billet aluminum, providing unparalleled strength and dimensional stability compared to stock components. This design ensures maximum oil pressure and flow, critical for high-performance applications. The innovative independent scavenge sections efficiently clear oil from both the flywheel cavity and the cam chest, significantly reducing oil aeration and improving overall lubrication efficiency. Debris screens in both scavenge pickups, coupled with a strategically placed magnet in the cam chest, actively prevent contaminants from reaching the oil pump, safeguarding your engine's vital components. With an increased oil flow capacity on both the feed and scavenge sides, this kit ensures your engine receives optimal lubrication under all operating conditions, including demanding high RPM scenarios.
This advanced motorcycle cam kit includes S&S Cycle's renowned Quickee pushrods, designed for quick and easy installation, along with high-performance tappets. These tappets boast fast pump-up rates and superior high RPM performance, contributing to reduced valve train noise from startup to shutdown. Their close tolerances ensure low leak rates, maintaining consistent hydraulic pressure for precise valve control. Complementing these are hard anodized black tappet cuffs, which enhance tappet stability during high lift and high RPM situations, further improving valve train reliability. The adjustable pressure relief valve is a standout feature, allowing for fine-tuning of oil pressure even after installation, giving you complete control over your engine's lubrication system. The 496 Series grind offers an impressive 0.485" intake and exhaust lift, with 227° intake duration and 243° exhaust duration, providing a significant boost in power and torque.
