Designed to meet or exceed OEM specifications, this Hastings 4.000" bore piston ring set is a crucial component for any engine rebuild or refresh, especially for 114" displacement engines. Each set includes top compression rings, second compression rings, and oil control rings, meticulously crafted for peak performance. The top compression rings feature a Barrel Face design, enhanced with a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating. This advanced coating significantly aids in heat transfer between the piston and cylinder wall, while effectively controlling combustion chamber gases. This allows the piston to efficiently transfer the energy of expanding combustion gases directly to the crankshaft, maximizing power output. The second compression rings are Napier style, featuring a reverse twist and a taper-machined ring face. This innovative design duplicates the OD bottom side scraping edge of a positive twist torsional ring, promoting superior side sealing. This critical feature prevents oil from being forced under and behind the ring, leading to better oil economy and reduced consumption. For optimal lubrication management, the oil control rings are a Three Piece Flex Vent design. This three-piece construction allows for rails with a small cross-sectional area, ensuring excellent conformability to the cylinder bore. Uniform pressure is maintained through four steel rails and two expanders, guaranteeing positive oil control across all operating conditions.
